    Although I am not an accolade of Data Centricty, I do agree with the utter uselessness of cataloging data. It reminds me of going to a garbage dump and collecting items to recreate the object the way it was before it was summarily dispatched.

    There are no substantive use cases for a data catalog. What will you do once you have the catalog? Reduce silos? Reduce data duplication?

    No need for a catalog to do that. You need a new model, new data design techniques such as ontologies and taxonomies. Become more Data Literate!
