Update

Chapter News
Contributed by Catherine Nolan, VP Conference Services, DAMA International

We have had two new chapters join DAMA in the past month, DAMA Indiana and DAMA International Nigeria. The Nigeria chapter held its first meeting on September 19 and is in the process of working on strategy and formation as well as electing officers. DAMA Indiana is having its first official meeting on October 21 which will feature a presentation by Ron Ross on “How to Coax Semantics into Your Data Models.”

DAMA Indiana will be meeting in Indianapolis for their inaugural meeting and have more than 60 people registered at this writing. In addition, one local University’s Information Technology class is attending, giving students a chance to meet data professionals and learn firsthand what types of positions are available to them when they graduate.

The Indiana chapter was formed after a “DAMA Connection” event was held in Indianapolis sponsored by DAMA International. DAMA International initiated these one-day seminars allow people to network with colleagues, listen to recognized speakers, and learn more about the recently published DAMA-DMBOK (Guide to the Data Management Body of Knowledge). This is DAMA’s way of furthering data management by providing world-class events at no cost to cities where no active DAMA Chapter currently exists. If you are interested in forming or invigorating a chapter in your city by holding a DAMA Connection, please contact vp_conference_services@dama.org.

For further information about the DAMA International Nigeria chapter, please contact Riman Moses at riman_moses@yahoo.com. For information about DAMA Indiana or to register for the October 21 meeting, please contact info@DamaIndiana.org. Congratulations to our newest chapters!

DAMA Chapters are encouraged to submit information to be included in the DAMA Corner Please share! Comments and suggestions are welcome!
