Data Governance and Data Leadership: Two Sides of a Coin
The Transformation to Data-Driven Business Starts Here!
Produced by Dataversity and DAMA International
Wednesday March 25, 2020
Even if your organization has no formal Data Governance, you are still “governing” your data. Somehow decisions are made, and quality is … well … OK. This same mantra does not apply to Data Leadership, as it is often entirely missing from our organizations.
Data Governance is a foundation, providing the rules and structure by which all organizational data should be used. We have traditionally struggled with Data Governance in part because it represents only a portion of the data-related coordination our businesses need. Data Governance gives us the rules of the road, the road itself, and the signs and signals that make up the infrastructure we use every day. Data Leadership is the vehicles on the road. These vehicles serve a variety of purposes – from carrying us to work to bringing packages to our doorsteps.
In this sure-to-be-exciting session, Bob Seiner and Anthony Algmin will each represent a side of the coin. Will harmony be found? You’ll have to attend to find out.
Highlights include:
- Clear definitions of Data Governance and Data Leadership
- How Data Leadership complements Data Governance
- Incorporating Data Leadership into your Data Governance strategy
- What matters more than either Data Governance or Data Leadership
